Disney World Transportation

There are several transportation options to choose from at Disney World. There are boats, buses, and monorails. But the real complication lies in knowing the whereabouts of these transportations.

There are some answers that you must know about before you plan a vacation to
Disney World about transportation. They are:

  • What is the time of these transportations running?
  • What must you do if the transport you are in suddenly breaks down?
  • Where do these transports pick up their guests from?
  • When is the pickup time?
  • In case you miss transport, what would you do?
  • How to reach from one resort to another?

The questions related to transportation are endless. And why not? Disney World is an enormous place. There are many resorts that you can choose to stay at, and we are not even getting started with the attraction and rides list.

It could get really difficult to know about all these things. However, it is only with the help of someone who has expertise in this area you can figure this out. And thus, we are more than just happy to help you know about everything.

You must be aware of certain things regarding Disney World transportation. Let us have a look at what they are:

1. Skyliner

Skyliner is one of the newest additions to the Disney World transportation system. This mode of transport started its operation only in the year 2019.

Since then, it has become one of the most favorite modes of transport for all Disney World guests. And for the right reasons. Skyliner is extremely efficient as a mode of transport. However, it also has a lot of cons attached to it.

Depending solely on Skyliner as a mode of transportation, Disney World is a big no. This is because the weather conditions in Central Florida are tricky.

It is extremely often that this place has storms and heavy downpours. Sadly, the Skyliner is shut down during such weather conditions.

Hence, to be on the safer side, it is always good to have a backup plan ready. If you come across such a condition, you can always go for another mode of transport. Some options are buses and uber.

One of the most important things to keep in mind is that to board on a Skyliner, you have to be there really early.

If you thought that the queue for the ride tickets was long, you are not aware of the Skyliner queue. Since this is one of the most popular modes of transportation, tickets get crowded.

Hence, to get yourself a ticket to be on the Skyliner, you have to keep a lot of time in hand. If the queue is too long and you have to reach somewhere in a short time, you can always go for the other transportation options.

2. Buses

There are several things that you know about when it comes to buses. Let us have a look at some of the most important ones.

The first thing to remember is that the buses that run on inner loops within really enormous resorts take a lot of time.

You might think that the bus would take you directly to your destination. But, in many cases, the bus can take two to three inner loops at the hotels before actually leaving for your destination.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are availing a bus, you must keep some extra time in hand.

Disney World buses take a lot of time. The waiting time between one bus to another can be long, and thus we are sure that you do not want to miss a bus.

3. Parking

There is one important thing to keep in mind when at Disney World. It is that you have to pay for parking. If you are staying at one of the hotels, it is a must for you to pay for parking.

Unless, of course, you are taking an Uber or Lyft. The next thing to remember is that if you are paying for parking at the resort, you are staying at, you would not have to pay for parking at the park. Since you are paying for parking already at the hotel, your parking fee at the park comes for free.

Along with that, you cannot show up at a resort just like that and not pay for the parking fee. The parking fee in another resort is free only if you have a dining reservation there. Apart from that, you would have to pay the parking fee.

The next thing that you must know when parking at Disney World is that the space to park is enormous. Well, we already had a hint about this, did we not? Therefore, the chances of you losing your car in the crowd are huge. If you are wondering what you can do about it, there are a couple of things that we can suggest.

Firstly, you can send your location to any of your friends so that you can trace it later. Secondly, you can note down or take a picture of the area where you have parked your car. That way, you would be able to trace it later or even take a cast member’s help to get to your car.

But what are you supposed to do if you lose your car and cannot trace where you have parked it? Just seek help from any of the cast members. There are many cast members that you would come across. All of them are very helpful, and hence you do not have any reason to panic.

Note

However, there is one extremely important thing that you have to keep in mind when you are driving to the park. And that is the opening time of the parking lot gates. The gates do not open in the early hours of the day. This is applicable when you are driving and also when you are on an Uber or Lyft. Hence, to be on the safer side you can choose the option of the Disney World public transportations that are there.

4. Uber/Lyft Services

We are aware that Uber or Lyft is a little on the expensive modes of transportation. However, it could be a savior when you are in an emergency.

Imagine missing your bus, and the next bus is an hour later. Meanwhile, you have a reservation at a restaurant and have to reach really early. What would you do?

This is when uber comes to place. We understand that it is a little expensive, but it can drop you off at your desired location within a really short period.

There are many situations where Uber comes into play. Especially Uber becomes very helpful during the night hours. This is because, during the night hours, the buses and Skyliner stop working. During this time, you have no choice but to take an Uber back to your hotel.

There could be times when you would have to reach a place urgently. If that is a busy hour of the day and you are availing of a ride-sharing service, then the best thing to do would be to use the ‘priority pickup’ mode.

This would ensure that you are picked up and dropped off on a priority compared to the other people sharing the ride with you. However, this could cost you a little extra but could be worth it if you compare it with the time taken for a drop.

Hence, if you want to save extra money on Uber, we suggest you plan everything and be on time everywhere.

Apart from all of these, there is one important thing that you must keep in mind: the parking fees. If you have taken an Uber to your hotel, it is obvious that you would not be charged any parking fees.

However, there could be times when the resort would charge you for the same. If such a situation occurs, we suggest you call any of the Cast Members and resolve the issue.

5. Keep some extra time in hand

In conclusion, there is one important thing that comes out of all the above points. The point is that time plays a huge factor when you are at Disney World. If you are running behind the scheduled time, your whole plan for the day can get affected even for just one minute.

Hence, the best thing you could do is always keep some extra hours in hand. This is more important to keep in mind when traveling at either early hours or the later hours of the day.

During the closing and opening hours of the park, transportation is a tough thing to get. This is due to the reason that these times are the most crowded times of the day. Hence, keeping some extra time in hand ensures that you do not miss out on any reservation.

The next thing you must know is that the transportation time usually given is mostly never accurate. Hence, make it a point to show up to avail a Disney World transportation at least keeping an hour in hand.

Last but not least, do not underestimate the time required to travel from one place to another. Hence, plan your to-do list for the day, keeping the traveling time in mind. Also, add some miscellaneous time if needed.

Disney World public transportation tips

Now that you are aware of some of the most important things to keep in mind when you are at Disney World. Let us now have a look at some miscellaneous advice:

  • Do not choose to walk when you come across a really long queue. You might think otherwise, but walking is not the fastest option.
  • If you have parked at EPCOT, make it a point not to stay outside the park during the closing hours at the International Gateway. If you are, get ready to take an Uber and drive back to the parking lot by either taking the Yacht & Beach Club or the Broadwalk route.
  • When staying at Animal Kingdom, make sure to keep some extra hours in hand for literally everything you do. This is because Animal Kingdom is far away from everything. Hence, it is better to plan and have some extra time.
  • In case you are thinking of taking a boat ride, make sure that it does not have any loop-back routes. Just like the buses, boats too run on routes in the loop. This means that before taking you to the park it would take one or more rounds on the same route at least once. Hence, there is a possibility that you take the boat thinking that it would be faster, but then end up being super late.

These were some of the Disney World transportation lessons that you must know about. Now that you know it let us hope that none of us repeats these things.
