Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue (2010): Tinker Bell meets Periwinkle, a little girl who believes in fairies. When humans capture Tinker Bell, Periwinkle comes to her rescue—but will they both escape safely? (Rated G) Is it any good?

Not quite as strong as last year’s entry, but still pretty solid overall. Like most sequels, though, there’s less originality and innovation on display here, making it feel like a retread at times.

Disney Fairies is a series of eighteen children’s books by author and illustrator Gail Carson Levine. The Disney Fairies include Tink (also known as Tinker Bell), Iridessa, Rosetta, Fawn, Vidia, Silvermist, Blaze, etc.

Tinker Bell film series: The Pirate Fairy, 2014

Tinker Bell is a fictional character and main protagonist of Walt Disney’s Peter Pan franchise. Mae Whitman voices the surface in all Tinker Bell films, television shows, and video games except for Pixie Hollow Games, where Kimberly Brooks voices her instead. Created by J. M. Barrie in his 1904 play Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Wouldn’t Grow Up and subsequent 1911 novelization Peter and Wendy.

Tinker Bell has appeared in various adaptations of Peter Pan, most notably those produced by Disney since their inaugural 1953 animated feature film. She also appears regularly in Disney’s numerous fairytale-themed television programs, including Disney Fairies.

In addition to appearing as a supporting character on non-Disney productions such as PBS’ American Experience biography program about J. M. Barrie and CBC Television’s Mr. D special, Tinker Bell was featured prominently in her miniseries entitled Tinker Bell (2008).

Before meeting Peter Pan, Arielle Kebbel voiced Tinker Bell in The Pirate Fairy’s prequel film (2014). Kebbel described her version of Tink as more mature than previous incarnations because she is older than them. Her wings are longer and thinner with a blue tint than other Tink versions, with green branches with more rounded edges.

Tinker Bell film series: Legend of the NeverBeast, 2015

Legend of The NeverBeast is a 2015 computer-animated fantasy-comedy television film under the direction of Steve Loter and Tim Hatley and author Todd Alcott. It bases on the Disney Fairies book series, The Never Girls, published by Disney Press. The film stars Mae Whitman, Mel Brooks, Lucy Liu, Raven-Symoné, Tracy Morgan, and Jane Krakowski.

And it came out as part of ABC’s television special, Countdown to 25 Days of Christmas. It first aired on December 2, 2015, in the United States on ABC Family and Family Channel.

Tinker Bell (Mae Whitman) and her fairy friends Vidia (Raven-Symoné), Fawn (Lucy Liu), Iridessa (Jane Krakowski), and Silvermist (Tracy Morgan) are having their annual pixie winter games. When they meet a creature named Creech, who was frozen for many years, they befriend him and decide to unfreeze him.

Tinker Bell later discovers that Creech is a human boy named Kyle, whose heart broke after his girlfriend broke up with him during his childhood. He believes he can never love again, so he decides to freeze himself until someone finds him who loves him just as much as his ex did. Tinker Bell then tells Kyle about Pixie Hollow and how it works, but he does not believe her at first.

So Tinker Bell shows him around Pixie Hollow and introduces him to all its inhabitants, including Queen Clarion (Anjelica Huston). Queen Clarion asks Tinker Bell if she would like to go on an adventure with her, but she declines, so she wants to stay behind with Kyle.

She then tells Queen Clarion about Creech and how they want to free him from his ice prison. Queen Clarion permits them but warns them not to do anything reckless while they are gone.

Final Thoughts

The character Tinker Bell, created by animation director Marc Davis for Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film Peter Pan, is perhaps most famous for her portrayals in Disney’s Peter Pan sequel films, including 1958’s Return to Never Land and 2002’s Return Never Land.

Tinker Bell has been a prominent figure in all five of Disney’s Peter Pan films; she made her debut appearance in Disney’s 1953 animated feature film Peter Pan.

And although Tinker Bell didn’t speak in Disney’s 1953 adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s classic children’s story, she was pivotal to many of its iconic scenes—including those at London’s Kensington Gardens.

Indeed, Tinker Bell led Wendy Darling to discover Peter Pan and his band of Lost Boys. But Tinker Bell also played an important role in Disney’s 1950 live-action/animated film Cinderella and Disney’s 1955 live-action fantasy Lady and the Tramp. And over time, Tinker Bell became such an iconic character that she gave her a franchise.
