Disney Characters That Start With H

There is one of the best Disney characters that start with Hercules. Though only making a brief appearance in 1940’s Alice in Wonderland, Harry is an interesting characterโ€”not just because of his name but also because he’s one of many examples where a post-film change caused by popular reception altered a film’s original meaning.

Alice grows so large that she walks off her painting and steps into another painting entirely in one scene. At that point, she finds herself face to face with Harry, who at first seems shocked to see her and looks as if he’s about to run away in fear. But then he smiles warmly and welcomes her with open arms.

When Alice returns home, she tells her sister all about him: He was ever so lovely, had such beautiful eyes, and oh! Such a lovely nose! This description wasn’t initially present in Lewis Carroll’s book; the makers added it later when Walt Disney realized how much children loved (and were frightened by) mice.

Since they were afraid of Harry, they could relate to him more quickly and would be less likely to be frightened during scenes featuring mice. The addition made sense for its time. But some viewers today believe it changed the entire meaning of what was supposed to be a dark story involving drug use and death.

Hangy Head Harry from Alice in Wonderland

Hangy Head Harry was one of many human-like creatures on display in Professor Humperdink’s Wax Museum. Alice and his friends make their way into it when they look for The White Rabbit.

While there, they caused a bit of a stir while trying to avoid being melted down with Jack Straw and Jill Handy from Captain Hook’s pirate crew. After being defeated by Peter Pan, who was hanging outside in his waxwork display?

As a result, Humperdink threw them out onto High Street but not before making sure to meltdown each of their feet so that no one would ever identify them as pirates. Luckily, Alyss Heart saved them just in time using her magic wand.

Once they were back at sea, Captain Hook swore revenge against Alice and her friends. This threat prompted Madam Lucinda to transform him into a harmless baby boy named Horace Bipps.

His head was significant compared to his body. Because he had an oversized brain (much like an Einstein), he is often visible wearing glasses. In addition, he has big ears (the size of big muffins) and wears red shorts.
